Mark Maddock Custom Installation recently completed a bespoke home cinema in Warwickshire, creating an idyllic space for the family to spend time together. The client, Steve, had built a new home and wanted a dedicated space for high-quality entertainment – somewhere he could enjoy with his wife and create memorable experiences with his visiting grandchildren.
The property itself is an impressive six-bedroom house, seamlessly connected to a four-bedroom guesthouse via a glass link. Beneath both homes lies a shared basement, designed to serve multiple purposes. Alongside a games room and laundry area, it now houses a state-of-the-art 7.4.4 home cinema room – delivering an immersive experience that brings everyone together.

Seeing is Believing
Having worked with Mark Maddock Custom Installation on various AV projects over the past 15 years, Steve knew he could trust Mark and his team to bring his vision of a custom cinema room to life. Without any specific equipment requirements other than wanting a starlight ceiling, the project journey began with a visit to AWE.
“Since the project was such a blank canvas, I recommended that the client visits AWE’s showroom to experience what a custom installed cinema can offer,” Mark explains. “It gave him a chance to understand what he liked and what was possible. Initially, I had prepared a quote based on the technology in the AWE Performance Cinema, but after comparing it with the AWE Reference Cinema, he completely fell in love with the latter. The immersive quality and performance of the Reference Cinema was a massive hit, and he recognised its value straight away.”
This visit solidified the client’s decision to bring the same high standard of cinematic excellence into his new home.

Crafting the Ultimate Home Cinema
The beating heart of this cinema is the powerful 7.4.4 Dolby Atmos surround sound set-up, featuring Bowers & Wilkins CWM8.3D in-wall speakers for the front left, centre, and right channels, with four CWM8.5D speakers handling the rear and back surround. Four CCM8.5D in-ceiling speakers deliver immersive overhead effects, while an additional four CTSW15 in-wall subwoofers provide deep, impactful bass. The system was expertly calibrated for the space and enhanced further with input from Cinema Build Systems, who provided acoustic and visual treatments, including a fabric wall.
A Sony VPL-XW7000 Native 4K Laser Projector delivers stunning visuals on a 4m acoustically transparent screen. With 8.3 million pixels producing crisp, lifelike colours, it’s the perfect high-performance solution for this top-tier cinema. The Marantz AV10 processor ties everything together, providing high-performance audio processing and advanced room correction for a continuously seamless experience.
The installation process was pretty smooth, and the team maintained a flexible approach in order to accommodate adjustments as the project evolved. One key request was to conceal the projector, which was achieved by bringing the back wall forward for a seamless finish. The team also incorporated thoughtful details, including bespoke shelving for Blu-ray and DVD storage and a conveniently placed local HDMI input.
“The client wanted everything to feel sleek and uncluttered, so we made sure to blend the projector into the room’s design and add small personal touches that made the space more practical for him,” Mark shares.

The Result
The completed home cinema is a seamless blend of cutting-edge technology, thoughtful design, and skilled craftsmanship. “We’re really happy with how this space came together; it’s given Steve the perfect place to relax and enjoy time with his family”, Mark says.
This cinema is not only a testament to the possibilities of bespoke home entertainment but also a blueprint for future projects, as the success of this project has already influenced future installations.
“This cinema has absolutely shaped other jobs,” Mark explains. “After seeing the finished space, another client was inspired to create something similar for their own home.”
