High-brightness home cinema projectors, professional projection and large-format displays are giving integrators more ways to deliver visual impact throughout the home. At the forefront of Optoma’s residential range is the UHZ78LV, a 5,000-lumen 4K UHD RGB triple-laser projector designed for both dedicated cinemas and multi-purpose media spaces.
For many years, projection in the home was closely associated with a dedicated, fully darkened cinema room. That remains an important application, but changing lifestyles and advances in display technology are creating a much broader range of opportunities. Today, clients may want a cinema experience in a family room, a large image for live sport and gaming, or an immersive visual feature that forms part of the interior design.
Optoma’s portfolio gives integrators the flexibility to approach each of these applications on its own terms. It spans home cinema and professional projectors, fixed and interchangeable-lens models, professional displays and direct-view LED solutions. The range can support anything from a conventional cinema to a golf simulator, projection-mapped feature or large digital canvas.
UHZ78LV: Brightness for Cinema and Media Rooms
The Optoma UHZ78LV is a 5,000-lumen 4K UHD RGB triple-laser projector designed to deliver a high-impact big-screen experience across dedicated home cinemas and multi-purpose media rooms.
For a closer look at the UHZ78LV and its key features, watch the product overview video below to learn more about what this projector can offer.
For projects that demand still more light output, specialist lenses or multi-projector techniques, Optoma’s professional range extends far beyond home cinema. Fixed-lens models are available for short-throw and high-brightness applications, while the ZK1320 provides 13,500 lumens and a choice of ten interchangeable lenses covering throw ratios from 0.34:1 to 8.6:1. This breadth is valuable for golf simulators, racing simulators, projection mapping, edge-blended images and other immersive environments where the geometry of the space shapes the specification.
When a Projector Is Not The Right Answer
Projection is only one way to create a large image. Some rooms require a display that can remain visible throughout the day, operate without a projection path or function as a permanent digital canvas. Optoma’s wider range includes professional flat-panel displays and All-in-One direct-view LED systems for these applications.
These displays can be used for entertainment, video meetings, information, digital art or ambient visual content. In residential, hospitality and light-commercial spaces, that versatility allows the display to become part of the room rather than a device used for a single purpose.
The key is to begin with the environment and the client’s intended use. Screen size, ambient light, viewing distance, installation depth, service access and the type of content all help determine whether projection, a professional display or direct-view LED is the most appropriate solution.

Engineering For Specialist Applications
Optoma’s ability to support less conventional applications is another theme explored in the a recent episode of The Integrated Home Podcast. The discussion covers custom firmware for repeatable installations, projection for golf and darts systems, edge blending and mapping, and an underwater projector developed for use in swimming pools.
These projects may sit outside day-to-day residential work, but they demonstrate the engineering resources behind the brand and the growing crossover between residential and commercial AV. Integrators are increasingly being asked to work in wellness areas, entertainment spaces, hospitality environments and other locations where a standard television or cinema projector may not answer the brief.
As AWE Managing Director Stuart Tickle explains in the episode: “The application for projection is far wider than it was. We are way past the days of big units sitting in one dedicated room.”

Listen to the Integrated Home Podcast
The latest episode, More Than a Projector: The Optoma Story and the Future of Big-Screen Living, was recorded at AWE’s Alexander House in Epsom. Host Jeff Hayward is joined by Stuart Tickle, Managing Director of AWE, Ben Brown, Head of UK&I at Optoma, and James Fitzgerald, Home Sales Manager at Optoma.
Together, they discuss Optoma’s history, the growing importance of high-brightness projection, the role of large-format displays and the support available for unusual or technically demanding projects.
AWE holds core Optoma products and can work with integrators and Optoma’s technical team on larger or more specialist project requirements. Demonstrations of key models, including the UHZ78LV, are available at the AWE Show Apartment in Epsom, where the projector can be assessed in a properly specified system.
Contact the AWE team to discuss an upcoming project or book a visit to Alexander House for a demonstration.
