Optoma has introduced the UHZ78LV, a high-brightness RGB triple-laser projector designed for premium residential applications. Positioned at the top of the brand’s home cinema range and representing Optoma’s most advanced home cinema model to date, it delivers 4K UHD resolution, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced support, and flexible installation features suited to a wide range of projects.
Available through AWE, the UHZ78LV expands the Optoma line-up with a high-performance solution equally suited to dedicated cinema rooms and bright, multi-purpose living spaces.

RGB Triple-Laser Light Source and High Brightness
The UHZ78LV uses Optoma’s DuraCore MultiColor RGB triple-laser light source. Using discrete red, green and blue lasers, the system is engineered to deliver wide colour gamut performance, with coverage quoted at up to 96% BT.2020, supporting more accurate and vibrant colour reproduction on larger screens.
With 5,000 lumens of brightness, the UHZ78LV is well suited to larger screen sizes from 80 to 300 inches, while also giving installers greater flexibility when working in rooms with ambient light. The quoted contrast ratio of up to 4,500,000:1 supports improved dynamic range and shadow detail across HDR content.
The laser light source is rated for up to 30,000 hours, reducing maintenance requirements and supporting long-term reliability for residential installations.

PureEngine Ultra Image Processing
The UHZ78LV features Optoma’s PureEngine Ultra processing platform, designed to optimise brightness, contrast, colour and motion in real time. Frame-by-frame analysis helps maintain image stability and detail, particularly on larger projection surfaces where consistency is more critical.
For calibration-focused installations, FILMMAKER MODE and ISF modes are included, allowing installers to minimise post-processing and align performance more closely with the creator’s intent.
Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced
The projector supports a full suite of premium HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+, enabling dynamic metadata processing on a scene-by-scene basis. IMAX Enhanced is also included, supporting expanded image scale and improved detail for compatible content.
This level of format support provides greater compatibility with modern content sources and streaming platforms, helping installers deliver consistent HDR performance across a variety of use cases.

A Strong Addition for Premium Residential Projects
The Optoma UHZ78LV provides installers with a high-brightness RGB laser projection solution that is well suited to a wide range of residential applications. From dedicated cinema rooms through to media spaces where some ambient light is present, it offers a flexible option where brightness, colour performance and HDR compatibility are key considerations, making it a strong choice for premium residential projects.
“The UHZ78LV gives installers a strong new option where brightness, colour performance and Dolby Vision support are all critical. With 5,000 lumens, it’s particularly well suited to projects where a traditional dark-room environment isn’t always possible,” says James Drummie, Product Manager – Home Cinema at AWE.
