Now available to pre-order from AWE for delivery in September.
AWE is pleased to announce the arrival of the all-new Sony BRAVIA Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100), now available to pre-order. Slotting perfectly into Sony’s acclaimed home cinema projector line-up, the BRAVIA Projector 7 offers integrators an exceptional new option at an attractive price point of £6,999 SRP – perfectly bridging the gap between the award-winning XW5000 (£4,999) and the recently launched BRAVIA Projector 8 (£15,999).
Enhanced brightness and upgraded processing
Building on the success of the XW5000, the BRAVIA Projector 7 delivers an impressive 2,200 lumens brightness, representing a 10% increase over its sibling. This added brightness further expands installation possibilities, making it ideal for larger screens or rooms with higher ambient light.
Crucially, the BRAVIA Projector 7 features Sony’s advanced XR processing, also found in the higher-end BRAVIA Projector 8 and 9 models. This enhanced processing capability with amazing HDR tone mapping ensures exceptional image clarity, depth, and realism, delivering a truly cinematic experience in dedicated home cinema environments.

Flexible connectivity and familiar design
The BRAVIA Projector 7 is equipped with HDMI 2.1 connectivity, supporting the latest content formats and ensuring compatibility with modern source equipment. Despite these upgrades, the projector maintains the same compact chassis and lens design as the XW5000, allowing for straightforward upgrades or integration into existing projector spaces.
New Aspect Ratio Scaling for even greater flexibility
A standout new feature of the BRAVIA Projector 7 is Aspect Ratio Scaling, designed to support installations using 2.35:1 screens. This functionality enables digital scaling of 16:9 content within a 2.35:1 picture height without the need for lens shift. The image is neatly scaled with black bars to the left and right, preserving the correct aspect ratio while making full use of the screen height.
For example, homeowners can now enjoy 16:9 content — such as sports or TV shows — on a 2.35:1 screen, with black bars displayed at the sides. This feature has been added in direct response to installer feedback, showcasing Sony’s commitment to practical, real-world performance.

A new benchmark in value and performance
James Drummie, AWE’s Product Manager, comments: “We are excited to see how the 5100 compares to the 5000. Based on the increased lumens and the substantial upgrades brought by the XR processor, it is certain to reset expectations of what can be achieved at this price point. In addition, Sony has listened carefully to dealer feedback and incorporated Aspect Ratio Scaling for enhanced installation flexibility over the much-loved XW5000.”
